The Reds are beginning to slowly march up the table, breaking into the top half of the table for the first time this season after their 3-2 win over West Ham United last weekend.

The Merseysiders have lost just once in their last 11 games, and manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping for home comforts as the Villans come calling.

The Ulsterman will welcome back striker Luis Suarez from the suspension that kept him sidelined for the trip to Upton Park.

Nuri Sahin is likely to be in contention after recovering from a broken nose suffered in Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Udinese in Italy.

Fabio Borini and Martin Kelly are the only long-term injury concerns for the Reds, while Jose Enrique (hamstring) is a doubt for the match on Saturday.

Villa, however, are struggling for form in the league, despite progressing to quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup after beating Norwich 4-1 in midweek.

The Villans have won just twice in their last 11 fixtures in the league and find themselves on the edge of the drop zone, level on points with Wigan in 18th place.

Villa boss Paul Lambert will make the trip to the North West without long-term injury concerns Richard Dunne, Gary Fardner, Ron Vlaar and Enda Stevens, while Darren Bent is expected to be out for four weeks with a hamstring injury picked up against Norwich.

Joe Bennett could make his return from a lengthy injury after recovering from a cut on his knee received against Tottenham in October.
