The fourth-placed Toffees are just three points behind the Blues heading into this weekend's action, with the European champions currently contesting the Club World Cup in Asia.

David Moyes's side recorded a late come-from-behind win over Tottenham at Goodison Park last weekend, which ended a run of four Premier League matches without a win for the Merseyside outfit.

Meanwhile, the ninth-placed Potters will hope to shrug off last weekend's goalless draw at Aston Villa and return to winning ways.

Prior to the stalemate at Villa Park, Tony Pulis's men were on a five-game winning streak and it's been more than a month since they last suffered defeat in the league.

In team news, Ryan Shotton's red card against the Villans has left Pulis having to decide between Andy Wilkinson, Dean Whitehead or Matthew Upson as his replacement.

Meanwhile, Charlie Adam has completed his one-match suspension and is likely to slot back into midfield.

However, Michael Owen remains doubtful as he battles to overcome recent groin and hamstring problems.

For the visitors, Kevin Mirallas (hamstring) and Tony Hibbert (calf) are both unavailable, while captain Phil Neville is still recovering from last month's knee surgery.
