The high-flying Swans, eighth on the Premier League standings, went down to Norwich in Wales on Saturday in a seven-goal thriller.

Defeat to the Canaries for Michael Laudrup's side brought to an end a run of seven matches without a loss in all competitions.

The Welsh outfit booked their spot in the last-eight of the competition courtesy of an impressive 3-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Boro were 1-0 victors over top-flight strugglers Sunderland, the Championship club also challenging for promotion as they sit third on the table.

In team news ahead of the midweek clash, Garry Monk and Kyle Bartley are set to start for the Swans, although Ashley Williams is suspended.

Leon Britton could make his return from a knee injury, but Michel Vorm is still nursing a groin problem and may sit out yet again. Also likely to miss out is Pablo Hernandez (thigh).

Boro boss Tony Mowbray will check on the fitness of George Friend (hamstring), along with Jonathan Woodgate and Faris Haroun (both calf).

Josh McEachran is forced to sit out as the Chelsea teenager is ineligible.
