The France international hasn't featured for Les Parisiens in Ligue 1 since his dismissal at Montpellier on November 11, with Ancelotti preferring to partner Thiago Silva with Alex in their last four league games.
Sakho was once again an unused substitute against Evian TG on Saturday even though the Italian tactician had declared the centre-back "will no doubt be used" for the match.
The 22-year-old subsequently reflected on TV channel Canal+ that "sometimes you don't always understand the coach's choices, but you have to respect them".
However, Ancelotti has no intention of parting with Sakho as he believes the player has come on leaps and bounds in the past year.
"Sakho is not in a position to ask to leave," he declared. "He's staying here, because he's an important player for us. He doesn't 100% understand the coach's decisions, but that's normal.
"The most important thing is that Sakho trains well and is in good shape. He's made great strides forward compared to last season.
"He's back in the France team and has played a lot of matches, that's what you have to bear in mind."
