The Toffees' early season form saw them occupy a top-four place in the Premier League standings although they have since dropped to sixth with 23 points from 15 games.

Spurs, conversely have begun to find their feet after a shaky start to the campaign under boss Andre Villas-Boas and are currently in fourth spot following a three-match winning run.

David Moyes' side were held 1-1 by Manchester City last time out with the north Londoners 3-0 victors over Fulham while they defeated Panathinaikos 3-1 in the Europa League on Thursday.

Moyes is expected to stick with an unchanged line-up for the third time in a row.

Phil Neville continues his recovery from knee surgery while Kevin Mirallas (hamstring) remains sidelined.

Victor Anichebe (hamstring) is another long-term absentee and he looks set to remain out of contention for some time to come.

Michael Dawson is unlikely to travel to Merseyside having picked up a hamstring injury of his own with Gareth Bale nursing a similar complaint.

Scott Parker (Achilles) and left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee) are expected to return to the fold next week but there is no word on how soon Younes Kaboul (knee) will return from his long-term injury.
