The European champions will have to win against on Wednesday night and rely on Shakhtar Donetsk to defeat Juventus in order to progress to the knockout stages.

The Blues come into this match fresh off a 3-1 drubbing by West Ham in the Premier League and without a win in their last six in all competitions.

Stalwarts Frank Lampard and John Terry are still not ready to return to the first team, but could be in line to face Sunderland on Saturday.

England striker Daniel Sturridge will face a late fitness test if he is to at least make the bench for the west Londoners.

With Benitez desperate for victory, the Spaniard could field Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar from the start, leaving Victor Moses and Mario Marin to come off the bench.

However, tt is unlikely that Benitez will drop out-of-form striker Fernando Torres just yet.

Nordsjaelland are already eliminated from the tournament, and with not even a chance of qualifying for the Europa League, it is unlikely they'll take the midweek tie too seriously.

The Danes also haven't done too well on the road this season, winning just three of their last eight away fixtures.

Jores Okore will miss the trip to London with a thigh injury he pick up last month.

Both teams have two players in danger of suspension, Ramires and David Luiz for the Blues, and Patrick Mtiliga and Ivan Runje for the Danes, all needing one yellow card to incur a one match European ban.
