Michu has been in terrific form since his £2.5million switch from Rayo Vallecano in late July and is joint top-scorer in the Premier League alongside Newcastle striker Demba Ba and Liverpool frontman Luis Suarez with 10 goals.
And after his latest impressive display on Saturday in which he scored a brace to down Arsenal 2-0, Rangel is worried that the Swans may battle to hold onto their prized asset.
"That's something the club has to consider and he is a player we can't afford to lose," the 30-year-old right-back is quoted by the Daily Mirror.
"Hopefully he will stay here for a long time and we can have good success.
"Not many players can score 10 goals in the Premier League. He has done a fantastic job. He gives us an aerial threat that we probably lacked a bit before.
"He is feeling comfortable, enjoying his life in Swansea and everyone is happy with him."
