Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will be pleased to welcome back the sorely missed Lucas Leiva, who returns from a thigh injury that has kept him sidelined since August.

It is unlikely that the Brazilian midfielder will return to the starting line-up so soon, but he will be in contention for a place on the bench.

Martin Kelly and Fabio Borini are the only injury concerns for the Merseysiders, with both ruled out for the foreseeable future.

Rodgers' side have endured a difficult start to the season and have only won two of their seven league games at Anfield this term and the manager will be keen to turn things around.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins only has two players missing - Richard Chaplow and Frazer Richardson will continue their recovery on the sidelines.

However, the return of Daniel Fox will be a welcome addition for Adkins

The south coast outfit have a pretty good record against Liverpool, winning three of their last four meetings, but they has dropped more points from winning positions than any other team in the top flight.
