The Spaniard was brought in last week to salvage the Blues' season after the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo following several lackluster results.

The west Londoners have only won twice in their last eight matches prior to Di Matteo's dismissal, and a 3-0 loss to Juventus in the UEFA Champions League proved to be the final straw.

Benitez's first match in charge was against Premier League title holders Manchester City, and despite the cacophony of boos, his side managed a clean sheet against the rampant Citizens.

Amid speculation that Pep Guardiola will take over at Stamford Bridge at the end of this season, Benitez has denied that Abramovich wants to mimic Barca's style.

"He (Abramovich) sees how we work and he knows it'll take some time to fix everything. But he knows we can do it," Benitez told ESPN.

"Roman says he wants to see the team playing well but not with the Barcelona style. He knows we don't have Messi, Xavi or Iniesta - who have been working together for years.

"We have different players and we can play attacking and defensive football together. We have to find the balance."
