The result saw Andre Villas Boas's side up into seventh position and within five points of the UEFA Champions League spots.

Recent games between the two sides have gone Spurs' way, with the north Londoners winning three of the last four encounters, including a 4-0 win last season when the Reds ended the match with nine men.

And the last time the Merseysiders beat the capital outfit on their home turf was back in the 2007/ 2008 season under Rafael Benitez.

Emmanuel Adebayor is suspended this time around, though, while Scott Parker, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Younes Kaboul remain absent.

However, Sandro has been green light to play, despite leaving the field injured against the Hammers.

The visiting side, currently 11th on the table, go into this match having not lost in their last eight games, but having drawn five of those matches, including a stalemate with Swansea in their last game.

Reds defender Andre Wisdom is available after overcoming a knee injury, but midfielder Lucas Leiva is still short of match fitness despite playing for the reserve team last week.
