Sunday's goalless draw at Chelsea means City go into the midweek clash in second position on the table, a point behind Manchester United.

The Citizens' form on the road this season has been patchy, managing draws away to Fulham, Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham.

Roberto Mancini's side also go into the game with no new injuries, Gael Clichy, Micah Richards and Jack Rodwell still the only long-term absentees.

City skipper Vincent Kompany is expected to play despite struggling with a knee injury.

The 15th-placed Latics, who have lost their last five games to City and have not scored once in the process, go into the match on the back of a 3-2 win over Reading.

On the team front, striker Shaun Maloney (groin) and defender Gary Caldwell (hamstring) will undergo late fitness tests.

However, Ivan Ramis is expected to miss out due to a hamstring injury.
