Villas-Boas has favoured Friedel in the Premier League for much of the season, with the veteran shot-stopper putting in some strong displays.
Meanwhile, Lloris has ridden the pine since his off-season arrival from Lyon, with a few appearances in the Europa League his rare opportunities.
However, he has recently received an extended run in Spurs' starting XI, with Villas-Boas contemplating whether to pick France's number one more often.
"The main thing here is both keepers have been doing extremely well," said the Portuguese tactician.
"We've been shifting the keepers not on bad performances but on good performances.
"(But) we want to give them a run of continuity for them to feel stabilised. It's important for them and for the team too."
