A 1-1 draw at West Ham on Monday for the 14th-placed Potters came on the back of only their second win of the season, a 1-0 home victory over Queen's Park Rangers.

Meanwhile, the ninth-placed Cottagers make the trip to Staffordshire hoping to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat against Sunderland at Craven Cottage.

In team news, Stoke could be without Andy Wilkinson after the defender came off in the first half against the Hammers due to a back problem.

Ryan Shotton is set to deputise once again at full-back should Wilkinson fail a late fitness test.

Dean Whitehead will return from suspension, but Michael Owen is still suffering with a hamstring niggle. Rory Delap (hernia) and Marc Wilson (broken leg) remain sidelined.

For the Cottagers, boss Martin Jol will be without Alex Kacaniklic, Bryan Ruiz, Mickael Tavares and Kieran Richardson, who all miss out due to hamstring injuries.

However, Mahamadou Diarra (knee) and Chris Baird (ban) are once again available, but captain Brede Hangeland (ban), Simon Davies (hip) and Kerim Frei (loan return) are not.
