The 17th-placed Royals picked up their first win of the season against Everton last weekend.

Adam Le Fondre netted twice to secure a 2-1 victory, and could prove to be the key player against the Latics.

A win would for the home side would move them ahead of Wigan with a game in hand.

With manager Brian McDermott unlikely to change his winning formula, Reading could possibly name an unchanged XI on Saturday.

The Latics come into this match having suffered consecutive losses to West Brom and Liverpool.

They were thrashed 3-0 at Anfield last week and are in danger of being sucked into the drop zone if they don't pick up their form.

Roberto Martinez is set to be without Gary Caldwell, James McArthur, Franco Di Santo, Ryo Miyaichi, Albert Crusat and Antolin Alcaraz, who are all injury doubts for the match.

Ben Watson is also unlikely to feature after he fractured his shin in a clash with the Reds' Raheem Sterling.

A win would see Wigan move up to 14th on the table depending on results elsewhere, while Southampton and Aston Villa are looking to capitalise on a Latics slip-up.
