Redknapp's agent, Paul Stretford, confirmed the approach by the Ukrainian FA in a statement released on Tuesday.
Stretford is said to be in Kiev discussing the details of a possible big money contract.
Redknapp is likely to sign the deal by the end of the week, despite speculation linking him to Mark Hughes's job at Queens Park Rangers.
Speaking to Sportmail, Redknapp confirmed that he was delighted to be given the opportunity to work again.
"It's a fantastic job. I found out about it a couple of weeks ago when they got in touch with my advisors. I am serious about it," the Englishman said.
"They are an up and coming football country with some very good young players, some great teams like Shakhtar and some great stadiums.
"I will talk to them and see if we can sort something out. I'm definitely interested, without a doubt."
Redknapp narrowly missed out on the chance to become England's manager last season, but could now be in charge of Ukraine when they face his home country in a World Cup qualifier next September.
