The Magpies enter the Group D fixture with a positive mindset knowing qualification to the first knock-out round can be obtained with victory at Sports Direct Arena.
Pardew admits they have, at times, been brought back to earth this season, following some rocky performances, but said: "When you've been humbled, there's only one way to respond."
The Premier League side will, however, be without the services of Gabriel Obertan and James Perch, who are both struggling with injury, while Yohan Cabaye is expected to be sidelined until the New Year.
Brothers Shola and Sammy Ameobi, though, are expected to start up front.
Maritimo, on the other hand, have been blessed with a clean bill of health and are set to field their strongest possible line-up, which they will need if they are to retain any hope of climbing off the bottom of the standings and progressing past the group stages.
