Kagawa, who suffered a knee injury after the 3-2 Champions League win over Braga at Old Trafford in October, will be sidelined for another four weeks with Ferguson stating that "his progress has been quite slow actually".

Following a promising start to the season after a £12 million move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, the playmaker scored two goals in eight appearances before twisting his knee.

Ferguson followed up by confirming: "Overall, he will probably be looking at six to seven weeks since the injury. The first job now is to get him back."

The Japan playmaker will be absent until the Christmas period, missing crucial matches such as United's European Cup clash against Turkish giants Galatasaray, although the Red Devils have already qualified past the group stages, as well as the Manchester derby in early December.
