Bayern Munich defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo could be sidelined for the rest of the year after undergoing groin surgery.

The Brazilian was expected to travel with his teammates to Valencia for Bayern's Champions League clash but stayed in Germany and has since had surgery on a troublesome groin injury.
And manager Jupp Heynckes admits it is a blow to the Bavarians.
"It's a painful loss," said Heynckes. "I don't know how long he is going to be out for.
"He is an important player in my system and I hope to have him back as soon as possible. He's been having a good season."
