Barcelona maintained their unbeaten start to the La Liga campaign with a 3-1 triumph over Real Zaragoza at Camp Nou on Saturday evening.
A Brace from Lionel Messi on either side of Alex Song's 28th-minute goal did the damage for Barca, with Francisco Montanes netting for the visitors in the 24th minute.
Messi missed a glorious chance to notch his 77th goal of 2012 inside two minutes, as he placed wide from ten yards, but he didn't have to wait much longer for another chance.
On 16 minutes, the Argentine waltzed his way into the box and slid the ball beyond the outstretched legs of the keeper to give the hosts the lead.
Barcelona continued to pour forward but were caught on the counter attack just eight minutes later and Paco Montanes' shot deflected beyond Victor Valdes, off the despairing leg of Carles Puyol.
However, the goal only served to spark the league leaders into life and Messi turned creator with another weaving run before setting up former Arsenal midfield Alex Song, who stroked the ball home from 12 yards.
The hosts stretched their lead on the hour mark through that man Messi, as the two-time World Player of the Year struck a curling shot into the corner of the net after fine work from Martin Montoya.
From that point on the result was never in doubt and although Barca had more chances to add to the scoreline the hosts were happy with their two goal cushion to the finish.
The win gives the Catalans a six-point lead at the top of the table, although Atletico Madrid have a game in hand now, while Real Madrid are now an almightly 11 points behind.
