Scholes, who turned 38 this week, is expected to reach the milestone when the Red Devils clash with Norwich on Saturday evening at Carrow Road.
The former England international came out of retirement last season to help United, before agreeing to another term for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
Ferguson, who previously claimed Scholes would finally call time on his career at the close of the 2012/13 campaign, reckons the wily midfielder is too good to not consider playing on a bit longer.
"Paul is still the best passer of the ball in the country," said the Scot.
"It is amazing. He has had one or two injuries over the years, quit last summer and came back.
"He made a fantastic contribution in the second half of the season.
"It is not a time to make a judgment on his future. I just think he should keep doing what he is already."
Ferguson isn't the only one who thinks Scholes is a one-of-a-kind talent, with United team-mate Michael Carrick adding: "Paul Scholes is a genius.
"It is fantastic to play with him.
"Whether he realises or not, he has helped me enormously just by watching him and taking things in.
"We all know what he can do. But there are some things you simply cannot teach. You can learn but some of the stuff only he can do."
