Brian McDermott's side are languishing in 18th place with just six points from their opening 10 matches and come into this match on the back of three league draws, their most recent result, a 0-0 stalemate with Norwich.

David Moyes' Toffees, meanwhile, are just seven points adrift of leaders Manchester United, in fourth place with 20 points from 11 games, and come into this game having seen off a spirited Sunderland side 2-1 last weekend.

Reading could be without winger Jimmy Kebe, who missed the first four league games of the season with a hamstring problem, as he struggles to overcome a groin strain.

Alex McCarthy (shoulder), Danny Guthrie (thigh) and Jem Karacan (knee) are all sidelined.

Everton are, meanwhile, unable to call on Kevin Mirallas after he limped out of last week's win with a hamstring strain while Darron Gibson continues to be sidelined as he battles to overcome a thigh tendon problem.

Victor Anichebe (hamstring) and Tony Hibbert (calf) are also both unavailable for selection.
