The fifth-placed Baggies have emerged as this season's surprise package under the guidance of Clarke.

They will also be in good spirits after a 2-1 triumph over Wigan last weekend saw them close the gap on the Blues to four points.

Goalkeeper Boaz Myhill will continue in goal, with first-choice gloveman Ben Foster still on the treatment table with a groin injury.

Defender Gareth McAuley faces a late fitness test after picking up a hamstring injury whilst on international duty in midweek.

Midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu is expected to recover from a hamstring injury in time to feature in Saturday's clash.

Striker Romelu Lukaku, who is on loan from Chelsea, will not be eligible to face his parent club.

Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo will have to make do without the services of skipper John Terry, who picked up a knee injury in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool last weekend.

Left-back Ashley Cole is rated doubtful with a hamstring problem, while Frank Lampard could also miss out due to a calf injury.

Attacking midfielder Oscar and defender David Luiz may start on the bench after representing Brazil in Thursday's friendly clash with Colombia.
