The Reds rallied from a goal down to earn a share of the spoils with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last Sunday, a result that leaves them sitting in 13th place with 12 points from 11 fixtures.

The Latics, meanwhile, suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of West Brom having recorded back-to-back victories ahead of the visit of the Baggies to DW Stadium.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is expected to restore goalkeeper Pepe Reina to his starting line-up after the Spaniard missed the last five weeks of action with a hamstring injury.

Defenders Daniel Agger (groin) and Martin Skrtel (illness) are expected to shrug off their injury problems in time for the weekend clash, while midfielder Jonjo Shelvey will definitely be available for selection having recovered from a thigh injury.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is boosted by the return of on-loan winger Ryo Miyaichi, who has missed their last five games due to a groin injury.

Midfielder James McArthur is rated doubtful with a dead leg, while Albert Crusat (knee) and Antolin Alcaraz (groin) will definitely miss out.
