The 23-year-old sustained a serious foot injury in Chile's 3-1 defeat to Serbia on Wednesday night.
He lasted just 20 minutes before a challenge from Luka Milivojevic prematurely ended the Chilean's participation in the clash.
Sanchez is now likely to be sidelined for up to four weeks and will be unavailable for several domestic and European fixtures for Barca.
The Catalans, however, remain unbeaten in La Liga this season and top the standings.
Tito Vilanova's men have also already qualified for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
