City have found the going tougher this season, yet have shown a resilience which sees them remain as the only unbeaten team in the Premier League.
After cross-town rivals Manchester United staged yet another comeback to overcome Aston Villa 3-2, the Citizens responded with one of their own.
Having gone behind against Tottenham on Sunday, Roberto Mancini's side produced a spirited display to emerge 2-1 winners and ensure they remain within touching distance of United.
Kolarov believes the Citizens are still the best team in England and says their team spirit will guide them over the finish line.
"I understand why we get so much criticism. Everybody wants to beat us, because we are the champions and haven't lost any games this season," he said.
"The smallest teams, and the biggest ones, all want to beat us and give 200 per cent to do that.
"We have lost games in the Champions League but I think we are still the best team in the Premier League and if we play the way we know how, we will be the champions.
"If we carry on playing with the same spirit we showed against Spurs, nobody can beat us."
