Andriy Shevchenko has been asked to take over the reins of the Ukraine national team from Oleh Blokhin, who has joined Dynamo Kiev.

The former AC Milan and Chelsea marksman retired from football after Euro 2012 and has been requested by the Ukraine football federation to become their new coach.
"FFU president Anatoliy Konkov has decided to invite Andriy Shevchenko to take the head coach post," a statement read on the federation's website.
Shevchenko has won league titles in Ukraine and Italy, and has also lifted the FA Cup in England, as well as the UEFA Champions League with Milan.
The 36-year-old has scored 56 times in 111 games for his country, with 56 of those matches as captain.
