The 27-year-old forward sustained a nasty cut above his left eye in Real Madrid's 2-1 win at Levante on Sunday night after being caught by David Navarro's elbow in an aerial challenge.
Ronaldo was patched up before returning to the fray and fired Los Merengues in front soon after, although he was substituted at the break.
Real boss Jose Mourinho revealed after the game that his 12-goal talisman had briefly lost vision in both eyes, while the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) decided it was best to withdraw him from Paulo Bento's squad for the trip to central Africa.
"He has a craniofacial trauma, with an injury to his eyelid and the eye," national-team doctor Henrique Jones said.
"He has dizzy spells, problems with his vision and a headache. There is no sense in making him travel, because in these situations there is a critical period of 72 hours."
Valencia defender Joao Pereira has been called up as Ronaldo's replacement for Wednesday's clash.
