The 23-year-old proved a real handful for the Cottagers on Saturday, but he did not last the game after being substituted six minutes from time with a muscle problem.
Walcott is now considered doubtful for England's midweek friendly against Sweden, with Wenger revealing he was planning to bring the speedster off at half-time as his injury worsened in the second period.
"Walcott has a glute muscle problem," the Frenchman said. "We nearly took him off at half-time, he nearly went down, but we left him on. In the end, it got worse."
The Gunners boss is uncertain whether the England international will make the trip with the rest of Roy Hodgson's squad next week.
Wenger added: "At the moment, he is limping so I do not know whether he will be able to join the national team or not."
