The home side were certainly holding their own in the first-half and had the best chance to open the scoring on 14 minutes when Andreas Weimann had options either side of him, before taking one touch too many and letting the chance go to waste.

United struggled to create any real chances in the first-half and as the game was heading towards the break, Christian Benteke stormed down the left wing before muscling off Chris Smalling and finding Weimann, who lashed the ball past David De Gea to atone for his previously squandered chance.

Things got worse for United when Weimann found the back of the net for his second on 50 minutes, with a simple tap in from a Gabriel Agbonlahor cross.

Sir Alex Ferguson decided to make a change with Hernandez coming into the fold and it was not long before the Mexican made an impact, as he brought down a long ball before finishing past Brad Guzan on the 58th minute.

The Red Devils found themselves all square just five minutes later when Rafael played a cross to Hernandez at the back post before he finished thanks to a deflection off Ron Vlaar.

The Red Devils hit the crossbar twice in quick succession through Robin van Persie but it was that man Hernandez who completed the comeback on 88 minutes as he headed a free-kick home from five yards courtesy of a tantalizing Van Persie free-kick.

The Villans could not do anything to get themselves back in the game and United claimed all three points at Villa Park.
