Adam: Netted the winner

Stoke City picked up a second win of the season thanks to Charlie Adam's strike as they put further pressure on QPR boss Mark Hughes.

Adam was the match-winner in a disappointing game after he struck in the second half and extended QPR's winless start to the season to eleven matches.

Neither goalkeeper was really troubled in the first half, with Peter Crouch coming closest for Stoke, but his side-footed shot was blocked by Jose Bosingwa, while Adel Taarabt should have done better after a one-two with Junior Hoilett.

The second half wasn't much better, although Adam did break the deadlock after 52 minutes when he fired home at the back post after the Hoops failed to clear a cross.

The away side rarely threatened, apart from a Esteban Granero shot which was saved by Asmir Begovic and the pressure must surely be increasing on Mark Hughes as his side slipped to bottom of the table.
