Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini's recent on-field outburst is just him expressing his passion for the game, claims assistant boss David Platt.

Mancini was left furious with referee Peter Rasmussen following City's 2-2 draw against Ajax Amsterdam in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League Group D clash.
Rasmussen ruled out a goal for a questionable off-side before waving away appeals for what appeared to be a legitimate penalty claim from the Citizens in the dying seconds.
After the Etihad Stadium encounter, Mancini unleashed a tirade at the match official in the centre of the field. He escaped a UEFA sanction for his actions.
Having also played alongside Mancini at Sampdoria, Platt reckons the Italian has always been a bit of a hot-head, but in a good way.
"He has always been like that - as a player he was completely like that," said Platt.
"Monday to Friday he was fine but once he is on a pitch, if things don't go well for him - he has this fire in him. That is what he believes in.
"People make a great deal about it. It is not the first time he has reacted in that way, not necessarily at Manchester City.
"He wears his heart on his sleeve. If he has got something to say he will go and say it."
