Andre Villas-Boas' side are third in Group J after three matches following three successive draws, while the Slovenian champions are one place and one point better off on four at the halfway stage.

However, Vijolicasti's record against English opposition does not make for good reading as they have yet to record a victory in three attempts, having drawn 1-1 with Spurs last time out in the competition.

The north Londoners are expected to see off the challenge of Maribor as they have a good European record at home, losing just twice in their previous 13 games, although Villas-Boas may be tempted to rest a few key players for this encounter, with an eye on this weekend's clash against Manchester City.

In team news, Jake Livermore is likely to shake off an ankle injury sustained against Norwich to start for the hosts.

However, Villas-Boas is still without Mousa Dembele and Sandro due to injury, the duo on the treatment table alongside long-term absentees Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Younes Kaboul (both knee) and Scott Parker (Achilles).

Meanwhile, the visitors welcome back defender Jovan Vidovic after he served a one-match suspension against the English club a fortnight ago.

But Maribor coach Darko Milanic is sweating on the fitness of Ales Mejac after he sat out the final training session ahead of the flight to London, although fellow defender Nejc Potokar should return after recovering from injury.
