Mancini: What to do in Europe?

It's do or die for Manchester City on Tuesday night as only a win over Ajax Amsterdam will keep their slim UEFA Champions League hopes alive.

City are bottom of Group D with just one point from three matches, having drawn one and lost the other two.

The English champions lost their previous group encounter, which was against their midweek opponents - a 3-1 defeat at the Amsterdam ArenA.

With Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid determinedly contesting top spot, Roberto Mancini's side have only a slender chance of progressing to the knockout stages.

In team news, the Citizens are troubled by injuries ahead of the clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Centre-back Joleon Lescott (back) and midfielder James Milner (hamstring) are the most recent casualties after both failed to feature in Saturday's goalless draw at West Ham.

Right-backs Micah Richards (knee) and Maicon (foot) and midfielders David Silva and Jack Rodwell (both hamstring) remain sidelined.

Javi Garcia is back in contention, but Kolo Toure is not registered to participate in the competition and Pablo Zabaletta is set to deputise in his absence.

For Ajax, Christian Eriksen looks set to continue up front in unfamiliar attacking role between Tobias Sana and Ryan Babel.

However, Niklas Moisander should return in the heart of defence having missed the Lancers 2-0 defeat to Vitesse last time out due to suspension.
