Kehl: Doubtful

Kehl: Doubtful

Borussia Dortmund are sweating on the fitness of captain Sebastian Kehl ahead of their Champions League clash with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday evening.

Kehl sustained a broken nose in the goalless draw with Stuttgart in Bundesliga action on the weekend.

The 32-year-old had a protective mask fitted on Sunday, which has put him back into contention for the crucial match, while midfielder Sven Bender could also return from a calf strain.

Dortmund lead Los Merengues by one point in Group D. Despite the Germans triumphing 2-1 in the previous encounter, the form book favours the Spanish champions.

Jurgen Klopp's side have not won away in the Champions League since 2003, while Real have won their last seven home European fixtures in a row.

Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has no new injury worries. Sami Khedira, Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao remain sidelined but Alvaro Arbeloa is back in contention having returned in Saturday's demolition of Zaragoza.

Talismanic midfielder Xabi Alonso returns after serving a one-match domestic ban at the weekend, while Raphael Varane may be given a start in place of Raul Albiol.
