The big-spending Parisians suffered their first league defeat of the season as they went down 2-1 to Les Verts.
Ibrahimovic was red-carded for a high kick on opposition goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier - the 11th dismissal of his career.
It's now been revealed that Saint-Etienne had set out to provoke the the Sweden international from the start.
"It was hard, but it went well. I followed the instructions of the coach. He [Ibrahimovic] was upset. I think it worked," Sall told RMC Sport.
"He was putting in nudges. He does not speak French, but I think there were insults on his part."
