Adriano opened the scoring for the Catalan giants midway through the first-half before Mario Bermejo was able to level matters three minutes later.

The hosts were back in front in a flash though as David Villa found the back of the net, while Jordi Alba sealed the win on the hour mark.

The result took Barca three points above second-placed Atletico Madrid, who play Valencia later on the same day, while Celta remain in the bottom-half of the table with 10 points from their opening nine La Liga matches.

The hosts carved open the first chance after 11 minutes as Lionel Messi fed the ball through to Andres Iniesta, but the Spain international could only fire over the crossbar.

On 20 minutes the visitors almost found a way back through Iago Aspas, but he was only able to hit his effort straight at Victor Valdez.

Right up at the other end and Tito Vilanova's men made the opposition pay for that miss, defender Adriano getting on the end of a low cross to turn the ball home.

Just minutes later the visitors found a way back into the match as Valdes could only parry a shot into the path of Bermejo, who had the simple job of tapping home.

The visiting fans' celebrations would be cut short though as Villa hit back, firing

a low effort past the keeper following some excellent play from Iniesta.

Aspas had a great chance to again find a leveler but was again wasteful in front of goal, firing wide after breaking in behind the defence.

The Spanish juggernauts would eventually wrap up the result though, Alba ghosting into the opposition area before putting his shot past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
