The Argentina international picked up the knock on the opening day of the Premier League season and as a result has not featured for Roberto Mancini's side since then.

Aguero has had plenty of experience against Jose Mourinho's men, having played in La Liga for five seasons before joining the Eastlands outfit, although he has never tasted victory against the reigning Spanish champions.

City will take on the Galacticos in their Group D opener next Tuesday, and Aguero is hoping he can play a key role in his team's European campaign.

"I was never on the winning side against them so let's hope with City we can beat them," he said in the Daily Express.

"It will be difficult. Right now Real and Barcelona are among the best teams in the world. But we have a great team too."
