El Roja's all-time leading goal scorer took his personal tally to 52, albeit off the bench, in their 5-0 thrashing of the Arabs in a friendly in Pontevedra on Friday.
Having missed the Spaniards' Euro 2012 triumph as he recovered from a broken leg suffered with Barca in December, Villa is looking forward to making up for lost time.
"It's obviously a special day to be able to return to the national team after so much time out, great for me, especially being back alongside my team-mates, because I've missed them both in matches and training," the 30-year-old said.
"There's no need to look back now and I can look forward to enjoying myself again."
Villa added: "Little by little I'm going to continue improving, I'm getting better physically.
"I've spent a lot of time training, the body is adapting but getting a starting spot is down to the coach."
