Versleijen: Excited by job

Ajax Cape Town coach Jan Versleijen feels he has been at the club long enough now for the players to realise what it is he expects of them on the field of play.

The Dutchman took over the reins from Jan Pruijn for the second-half of the season, but has so far led the side to two draws and a defeat in 2013.

Those results have left the Urban Warriors outside the relegation zone only on goal-difference, but Versleijen is expecting a quick turn-around in form now that he and the team are familiar with one another.

"I try to always be excited, to work with the team and try to change things for the best. The good thing is that I have already been here for two months, so it is not really new for the players. They know what I want from them," he told the club's official website.

"I like the lifestyle here in Cape Town. It is all relaxed. That is a good thing but on the other side when you are training you cannot be relaxed you have to work hard. That is where I try to get on top.

"What I like about South African football is its creativity. Also, that has its downturn because sometimes you lose the discipline of the game. It is all about finding the balance."
