The Buccaneers ace had got his side off to the perfect start against Moroka Swallows on Tuesday, netting the opener after just 58 seconds of play, but needed to be substituted right at the end as the defending champions eventually lost the game 3-2.

Coach Roger de Sa admitted it looked as if the 24-year-old's season was over, telling The Sowetan: "I'm not a doctor but it seems Myeni is unlikely to play again this season. He's bad, his knee has gone."

The player was immediately taken to hospital after the Dobsonville Stadium encounter, although the Sea Robbers are still waiting on confirmation of the extent of the injury.

Pirates are next in action in the CAF Champions League on Saturday where they take on Djabal FC, having earned a seemingly unassailable 5-0 lead in the first-leg.
