Black Leopards needed extra-time to see off Cape Town All Stars 5-4 in their Nedbank Cup last 32 clash on Wednesday evening.
The match had ended 3-3 after regulation time where Abbas Amidu had opened the scoring for the PSL strugglers in the 10th minute as he raced through on goal and struck a fierce shot into the back of the net before Mitchell levelled matters for the Second Division high-flyers in the 24th minute.
Amidu though added a second four minutes later from close range ahead of an Ismaeel Stanfield penalty on 86 minutes, this after Raymond Monama had hit the crossbar with 15 minutes left in regulation time.
But the goalscoring wasn't complete as Monama found the target with two minutes left to play to again put Leopards ahead, however, Brian Kgafane ensured the tie went to extra-time as he forced home an 89th minute equaliser.
Amidu though completed his hat-trick at the start of the first period of extra-time, heading home a Monama cross, but the third-tier outfit struck back before Amidu netted his fourth goal to book Leopards a place in the last 16 stage of the cup competition.
