Matsatsantsa progressed to the Nedbank Cup last-16 after edging Moroka Swallows in a penalty shoot-out in their clash on Saturday.

However, the weekend's triumph failed to paper over United's repeated failure to register a goal in regulation time, with Gavin Hunt's men synonymous this season with goalless draws.

Meanwhile, AmaTuks were also in cup action on Saturday at Maritzburg United, but were less successful in their efforts to progress further than the round of 16.

The Team of Choice booked their place in the next round of the competition as they saw off Steve Barker's men 4-2 on penalties after 120 minutes had also ended 0-0.

Tuks travel to Atteridgeville in eighth place on the Premiership standings, with their midweek opponents two spots and three points behind them.

This will be the second league meeting between the two Tshwane teams this season after their previous encounter at the Tuks Stadium ended in a goalless stalemate

"It's a tough league. We've just got to keep plugging away and we need to keep on working at it," Barker said ahead of his side's tussle with SuperSport. "If you look at the log, if we win Tuesday's game in hand we jump back to fifth position, so there is a lot play for."

He added: "I don't think there is any team in this league from position five down that has the capability to win two games in a row.

"It's just too tight a league, the teams are too evenly matched and balanced. The top four, if you include Free State Stars, they are capable of winning two or three games on the trot, I just think the league is too tight.

"Three points at this stage in the league is like gold, you could jump two or three positions, or you could get dragged into a relegation battle, so we have to keep taking it one game at a time."

Neither team has reported any major injuries concerns ahead of the midweek tie, but Amatuks will have to do without the services of Bongani Zungu due to suspension.

Barker, though, will likely consider several personnel changes as his men have further PSL commitments this coming weekend.
