United booked their place in the next round of the competition as they saw off AmaTuks 4-2 on penalties in the last-32 on Saturday.

The teams could not be separated after 120 minutes of action at the Tuks Stadium, with Cuthbert Malajila firing home the winning spot-kick for the Team of Choice in the shoot-out.

"In total it was a very close game," Middendorp said in his post-match summation. "Two or three good opportunities were on their way, but in the end with the penalties it was good.

"Good goalkeeping from Walters and good use of the penalties, and I am quite happy. It was a good fighting spirit that we saw from the team. Of course we had some build-ups, a few simple, easy passing movements from the centre of the field."

He added: "Tuks are a very physical, direct playing team and you have to have good defensive work if you want to be successful against them.

"I was quite convinced that if it came to these final moments that we would have a good chance."
