Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter says the players' attitude in the second half made the difference as they whipped Black Leopards 3-1.

Defender Tefu Mashamaite scored first for Chiefs and Leopards hit back through through Josua Obaje four minutes before the break.

However, striker Kingston Nkhatha and midfielder Lucky Baloyi netted in the second half to give the Amakhosi a deserved victory and keep them on top of the Premier Soccer League standings.

Baxter was not impressed with their performance in the first half and apparently gave the Glamour Boys a tongue lashing that lifted their spirits and their game.

"We were intent on self-destruction in the first-half. We were giving them so many unforced transitions. They took one of them and they did well to take it - and that put them back in the game," the Englishman said after the midweek encounter.

"At half-time, a few honest words were said, not a lot of tactical stuff, and we went out a bit more like we usually play. I was impressed with the change of attitude.

"The second-half we controlled the game a lot better. Our passing was better, our movement was better and our defending was calmer. At the end of the day the score-line reflected the game.

"I know the pitch was difficult. Some of the mistakes were down to the pitch, and some of the mistakes were from frustration from the officials. But you have to carry on and we got the goals."

Chiefs have 42 points, two more than arch-rivals Orlando Pirates, who have a game in hand. The Bucs beat Platinum Stars 1-0 to maintain the pressure on the AmaKhosi.
