The visitors came from a goal down to lead 2-1, but in the 81st minute a brilliant goal from Wanderson earned the hosts a valuable point.
Larsen said Celtic prepared properly for the encounter, but was clearly disappointed by his defenders as three of them missed Wanderson as he headed towards goal and finished superbly.
"We watch video footage and it was clear that this player has only one foot; so in that case you don't allow him to play on his stronger foot," Larsen said.
"I don't think it was a lapse of concentration, just individual errors that cost us and at this level you cannot make such amateurish mistakes, you get punished for it."
"Still, it is a point I'll take against a very good Ajax side that don't deserve to be where they are," he said with regards to the Urban Warriors, who are 14th in the PSL standings with only 17 points.
Phunya Sele Sele are sixth on the table with 25 points, and Larsen admitted it will be tough to break into the top four with Free State Stars, Platinum Stars, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs all in-form.
He added: "It won't be easy breaking in to that top four, just look at the teams there that are on form. It is our target to finish in the top five and there is still a long way to go.
"You lose a game you can drop two or three place and if you win you can even climb two places, that's how tight it is and we just have to keep on picking up points. I believe we will reach our objective."
