Versleijen: Prefers youth over experience

The Urban Warriors managed a draw against Moroka Swallows in their first outing under Versleijen, only to be followed by Saturday's 3-0 hiding at Platinum Stars.

The Dutchman has opted for more youthful players, with seasoned pros like Granwald Scott, Nazeer Allie and Matthew Booth sitting on the bench.

Versleijen is aware of this and probably won't change his approach ahead of the clash against Celtic as he believes they will regain their confidence.

"We let ourselves down within the first five minutes. We went a goal down early and being away from home this was not easy for us to recover. We still believed after going down 2-0 that we had a chance to change the game around," Versleijin told Supersport after the loss to Stars.

"Probably a lack of confidence could be a factor but also the only way of getting out of that position is getting confident and getting results. You can see we have the quality."

"Overall, we need to add another 10 or 15 percent to our game and show the character (that is missing) to stay in the PSL.

"So, on a positive side, the players did well to keep playing and trying to get back into the game."

Meanwhile, Celtic defender Dominic Isaacs says he expects his former side to attack as they have the advantage, as well as the passion to erase the memories of their past two games.

"Their past results don't matter on the day. Ajax is like a wounded animal and that very dangerous. We will, however, play to win," he said.

Phunya Sele Sele have not won in Cape Town against Ajax for nine years but against a fairly weakened side they should be favoured to get a point, if not three.
