The Kenya international has been impressive for the Hoops in Europe this season and was again a real threat in attack during their Champions League last-16 clash against Juventus, despite the Scottish giants losing that game 3-0.

The Citizens have since been tipped as potential suitors of the 21-year-old, but Italian tactician Mancini has brushed aside those claims.

He said: "I saw (Wanyama) for the first time against Juventus, I never saw him before.

"But every time I go to see a game, the next day people say 'Manchester City want to buy this player'."

When asked whether he would be interested in signing Wanyama, Mancini added: "At the moment, no. I think he is a good player."

City are next in action against Leeds United in the FA Cup fifth round, having recently seen their Premier League title defence go up in smoke after closest rivals Manchester United went 12 points clear at the top of the standings.
