Two goals from Danny Venter and a Luyolo Nomandela strike right at the death piled the misery on a struggling Chilli Boys, who have not won in their last six.

Stars, meanwhile, cemented their position in fourth and moved to 28 points from 17 games. Ea Lla Koto have now gone seven matches without a loss, with a big clash against league leaders Kaizer Chiefs coming up next.

The Ccape Town side had two great chances early on, with both James Okwuosa and Rudiger Gilbert testing goalkeeper Tshepo Motsoeneng from outside the box, but the 33-year old was more than equal to the attempts on goal.

Venter was the man to open the scoring for the Free State Stars, the midfielder slotting home with his left foot from close range, after a wonderful pass by Zambian star Noah Chivuta.

Both sides went in search of goals when they came out for the second half. Chippa had a glorious opportunity to level the scores when an in-swinging corner from Diego Brown found the head James Okwuosa inside the area, but the header flew agonisingly wide of the post.

The match looked all set to end in a 1-0 win for the Stars, but the floodgates soon opened for the hosts.

Venter popped up again to finish off another opportunity for the home side, this time in a much more spectacular fashion, giving the keeper no chance from just outside the area.

It didn't take long for Nomandela to get his name on the scoresheet, putting an Enva Wiltwer pass in the back of the net from six-yards out to see out a comfortable win.
