Versleijen: Disciplinarian

Ajax Cape Town coach Jan Versleijen is hopeful a new-found discipline amongst his players will see them turn around an otherwise poor season, ahead of their clash with Moroka Swallows on Wednesday.

The two teams return to action following a lengthy break for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, with the Urban Warriors third from bottom just two points from danger while Swallows are currently three places better off in 11th with two more points.

The Mother City outfit have strengthened their ranks with the signings of Abia Nale, Lance Davids and Mabhuti Khenyeza, with Versleijen adding their problem of scoring goals should now be a thing of the past.

He told Football411: "What I worked on the past two weeks is discipline, discipline in terms of how we want to play.

"I made it clear what I want when we do not have the ball, so the players have to be disciplined to do this.

"We have to make the right choices and we have to do that all the time. That comes from discipline and being consistent."

Versleijen added: "We have a problem with scoring goals and this adds pressure on the backline and midfield. We now have players that can do the job up front and bring the quality we need."

Swallows started their season well, winning the MTN8, but have been less successful in the league since then.

However, Dube Birds captain Lefa Tsutsulupa says his side have been preparing well for the second half of the season.

He told the club's official website: "So far so good. We had a lot of friendly matches and we ran a lot to get our fitness back up, so everything is falling into place."

He added on SuperSport: "We're getting there mentally, but I think physically it's hard to tell. The approach to league matches is different from friendly matches, so it's still difficult to say [how fit we are].

"Against Ajax? I can only talk about us and this is a must win game for us, because we want to get away from the threat of relegation as much as possible."
