The 51-year-old announced his decision to quit the Super Eagles on Metro FM where he revealed the lack of faith in him by the NFF led to his resignation.

But the federation's media and publicity committee chairman, Emeka Inyama, says he is in the dark about the supposed decision.

Keshi had said: "I did what I feel is right by resigning. I gave the NFF letter last night (Sunday) after the celebrations.

But Inyama responded by saying on Sports Tonight: "As I speak with you the NFF has not received any letter of resignation from Keshi, he's still Super Eagles' manager until there is a formal letter from him to the contrary.

"Keshi has a running contract with the NFF, he just won the Nations Cup title which we last won 19 years ago and everybody is happy with him.

"The reported resignation is a rumour. We're not expected to react on the strength of the rumour. We're leaving Johannesburg tomorrow (Tuesday) on a chartered flight straight to Abuja where Mr President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan will host the team to a grand reception.

"We believe Keshi and his team will be physically present at the reception, so let's wait for the reception."
